Holiday Entertaining

Being the Host/ Hostess of a Holiday party can be stressful, but there are some things you can do to make it perfect:

Plan Ahead: this is by far the most important point. Make a list of what you need to get done before the big night: food, refreshments, music, decoration and even shopping!

Decorate! It´s the Holidays and it’s the perfect excuse to go over the top, keep it tasteful.

Don´t attempt new recipes. Stick to what you know.

Beverages: if you won´t be hiring waiters, it´s best to set up a bar where guests can serve and mix their own drinks, remember to include non-alcoholic options and diet soda for diabetics and dieters. Also, you can never have enough ice!

Music: Personally, I like having music as background, I hate having to scream to be able carry on a conversation, so I keep music at decent volume. Remember to make a playlist and if you don´t have time for that, have someone do it for you (make sure they have good taste).
Accept Help: If you have an extra pair of hands put them to good use, friends and family always want to help.
Hostess Gift: If you’re a guest, remember to bring a little something as a sign of your appreciation. I usually bake sweets ahead (deditos de princesa, baklava or brownies) and send them to the families we´re going to visit, if I run out of time we bring a bottle of wine.
Remember to enjoy!
