Wedding Day Tips

Dancing to arab music.
Your Wedding day should be one of the happiest days of your life, it certainly was for me. Although I was my own wedding planner, (I was in charge of every last detail so I knew exactly how everthing had to turn out), I had a completely stress-free day and really enjoyed myself. Some people might think it´s not a good idea to plan your wedding because of all the stress, but I learned so many things and the experience is priceless.

So, what did I learn from this process?
That there are some very important things you should consider on the day of your wedding:

  1. Try to get a good night sleep, no parties, no staying up late. You don´t want to look tired in your wedding pictures. If that´s not possible try and fit in a nap before doing your make up.
  2. Wear a family heirloom. I had been looking for something to wear in my hair and hadn´t had any success, and one of my Husband´s Aunts, gifted me a beautiful flower hair pin from her own collection that suited me perfectly. Precious!
  3. Make sure you eat something before you head out, and have your maid of honor pack you a midnight snack and leave it in your hotel room. You will be starving when the night is over, and trust me, strawberries and champagne won´t do the job!
  4. One very important thing I learned: Not everything will be perfect, keep that in mind. Accepting this helped me relax when our entrance song wouldn´t play, getting mad or stressing out wasn´t going to solve anything so instead we took pictures while someone else took care of it. As it turns out, they fixed the problem and everthing was perfect.
  5. Relax! Enjoy every second of that day. Eat, drink, admire the decor, taste the cake, dance, kiss and hug each other. It will go by too fast.

I wore a belly dancer belt that read "the bride" in Arabic.
Kissing and hugging!

The very special hair pin.

Dedicated to Helen and Anna who will soon tie the knot!

All pictures except for the hair pin pic were taken by Carlos Ordoñez.
