Trend ♥ Tortoise Shell

Before anyone goes “PETA” on me I’m not referring to the real tortoise shell made from the hawksbill turtle (an endangered species). The real tortoise shell was used during 1970s to make combs, sunglasses, guitar picks and other luxury items but was banned worldwide In 1973, by CITES the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.

With that said, have you seen the KarenWalker tortoise shell sunnies all the bloggers are wearing? They are gorgeous! I adore sunglasses made of this material; I think it’s so versatile and goes with anything. Anyways why stop with the sunnies, when there are lots of other options like watches, bangles and more!

***On another note, Honduras (along with other countries with Caribbean coastlines) is listed as one of the countries still exploiting and trading The Green Turtles Chelonia mydas and Hawksbill Turtles. So be careful what you buy while in the Caribbean.
