Health ♥ Are Eggs Good For You? + Deviled Eggs Without Mayo

Image via here.

Yesterday, as I was in the waiting room for a Doctor´s appointment, a group of women started chatting about eggs. After we all gave our opinion, we came to one conclusion: eggs are good for you!

So today, I researched a little bit to back it up. According to Livestrong, eggs DO NOT make you fat, and they DO NOT raise your cholesterol. Oh and guess what? You can eat the entire egg! I remember people saying you should only eat the white part but the truth is, egg yolks contain an amino acid responsible for the genetic muscle building switch. And yes, they do contain cholesterol about 200 mg but just because you’re eating cholesterol doesn’t mean you are going to get your cholesterol levels up (that´s if and only if you have no history of heart disease). In fact, cholesterol serves as a molecular framework for numerous hormones in your body such as vitamin A, Vitamin D and E.

My favorite part about eggs?  Their fat/protein combination (of 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat) increases your satiety hormones making you feel satisfied for longer periods of time. Now, I’m not telling you to eat eggs all day everyday but you can definitely incorporate them in your diet with the help of your doctor, taking in to account medical history, weight, sex and physical activity.

Since I do owe you a recipe, here is a one for deviled eggs without mayonnaise.

Deviled Eggs

1. Hard boil eggs.
2. Slice in half, take out the yolks and place them in a bowl.
3.Mash them up and add greek yougurt or avocado. If you are using yougurt add paprika and fresh herbs and if you went with the avocado add a little lemon juice and ground pepper.
4.Place the mix back on the egg halves and if you like, you can do this with a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe it down on the egg. Cover it up with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until ready to use. Very Housewife chic ;)
