I would like to start by apologizing for not writing last week, I had a lot going on in my life and needed a little break. Now off to today’s post:

With the celebration of Labor Day, we start to think of fall, although it actually starts on September 22nd, it doesn’t hurt to think about the new trends headed for this season. For those of us in Honduras we will have to wait until October to pull out our sweaters. But in the mean time, you can start by adding these 6 must haves for fall. Most of the pieces don’t have to wait for cold weather.

  1. The turtleneck: A classic in the cold months is a trend this season. They were spotted all over the runways during fashion week and if you are to buy one, make sure you either get one to pair with a vest (faux fur vest or leather) or a bright color to brighten up those gloomy days ahead. Also love the striped ones.
  2. Plaid/Tartan: Tartan has always been present during Christmas, except that now instead of having wool pjs of this fabric you can wear it in skirts and shirts etc. I specially like the red and black combo.
  3. Midi Skirt: we already discussed the Midi skirt before here. And it will continue to be an “it piece” for fall. They look great worn with heels, button down shirts, and sweaters.
  4. Leopard: This animal print is practically a neutral in fashion world, can be worn with anything and always makes you look luxe. It will always be "in" during the cold months so when you see a piece you like whether it’s an accessory or a piece of clothing invest in it. Leopard is a classic!
  5. Last year we were obsessed with faux fur vests (I was!) This year is all about the biker jacket. They can be paired with jeans, skirts, pants, and whatever you want. You can either play up the biker chic look or make it feminine by adding girly pieces for contrast.
  6. Structured bag: You always need a structured bag in your closet that will hold its own with everything we girls carry inside them. You might already have one of these, time to dust it off and take it out.
