Beauty ♥ Homemade Honey and Sugar Scrub

Because of pregnancy, I have been getting small breakouts on my face. I went to the dermatologist and he gave me a soap and cream for it, and while it has helped a lot, I kind of feel that I need a really good exfoliation on the affected areas. I usually use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub that is great, but today I’m going to cheat. I am making my trusty Honey and Sugar Scrub. I have been using this homemade concoction for years now. And this is not only great on your face but for all of your body, especially if you are planning to use self tanner or thinking of hitting the beach. You see, your body is covered in a layer of dead skin cells, and if you don’t exfoliate that night cream won’t absorb as well.

I turn to this scrub when I need something more powerful than my usual product; after I do it my skin always feels so soft and smooth.

The key ingredient here is honey:

  • Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it's great for acne treatment and prevention.
  • It is full of antioxidants; it slows down aging.
  • Honey is extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it makes your face glow.
  • It clarifies your skin because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

So here is the recipe:

Honey and Sugar Scrub

1 Part Sugar white or brown is fine, if you have sensitive skin or want something more gentle use Baking Soda

2 Parts honey (real honey, not syrup! If it´s organic, even better!)

Mix together, and gently massage skin, then wash it off. Pat dry and apply your favorite moisturizer.
